And she sticks the landing! Tens across the board.
Beaver Area High School’s gymnastics team (technically not a school team, just individuals affiliated with the school) has kicked off their 2022–23 season! The team members—seniors Alex Biela and Emma Ferricks, junior Rylie Teapole, and sophomore Avery Cutshall—have competed at a combined nine meets so far in the season with four more on the horizon.
The whole team competed at the Moon Invitational January 14. Ferricks took first on vault and eighth all around in the Bronze Division.
Teapole competed in the Silver Division. Cutshall took fifth on beam in the Gold Division. Biela took sixth on bars, eighth on floor, and seventh all around also in the Gold Division.
Ferricks and Biela will be celebrating their senior night tonight February 6 at their home turf, Monaca Turners Gymnastics.
Biela has been doing gymnastics with Monaca Turners since she was 8 years (a total of 9 years). Ferricks has been doing gymnastics since she was around 7 years old (a total of 11 years).
Ferricks started the season with a bit of a delay due to an injury. Luckily, she has recovered, saying, “It was really hard to rush back into it to get ready to complete, but I’m happy with where I’m currently at.”
These girls have definitely put in the work to get where they are as seniors. Congratulations Alex and Emma!
Some other important meets coming up for the team are the Bronze Invitational where Ferricks will compete later this week February 9 at Monaca Turners Gymnastics.
Biela and Teapole both will compete at the WPIAL Individual Championship February 11 at Moon High School. The whole team will compete at States February 17.
