After longtime football coach Jeff Beltz’s departure for the assistant superintendent position in Moon Township, Beaver Area was looking for a new head coach. Well, a new coach was hired and a new game plan emerges.
After six years as an assistant coach at Beaver Area High School, Beaver Area graduate Cort Rowse was named to the head coach position for the Bobcats’ football team.
Since 2016, Coach Rowse has taught offensive and defensive line, tight ends, and linebackers.
As a Beaver Area alum, Coach Rowse played on the offensive and defensive line. He played line on both sides of the ball at Geneva College as well.
“When I heard Coach Beltz was leaving, I was sad yet happy for him. I know how hard he worked to attain his new position at Moon Area. He has been a great friend for a number of years,” explained Coach Rowse.
Being humbled yet overwhelmed was the only way Coach Rowse flet after hearing about his new position.
“I’ve had so many great and memorable games and moments over my time at Beaver. So many big wins,” added Coach Rowse.
“The one thing that sticks with me more, is the relationships with so many great people. Then watching so many former players grow up and finally succeed in life,” stated Coach Rowse.
Coach Rowse hopes to create a “football family” during his Beaver Area High School coaching tenure. He wants his players to be disciplined, smart, tough, and will uphold who they are and what they represent.
Fans should expect to watch a tough and physical game with a team who is disciplined, never quits, and cares for each other.
Last but not least Coach Rowse wants everyone to remember that the best teams aren’t always the winningest teams.
“I’ve coached some great teams with great records. But the thing I found is that some of our best teams didn’t always have the best records. Our best teams I’ve been around are the ones with the best leaders. Those are the groups that work and grind for each other.”
