It’s almost time for the annual Beaver Area Art Show! This year’s theme is Disco, so get ready to boogie.
The leaders of this year’s Art Show are seniors Georgia Engle, Rachael Lamb, Zane Atkins, and Abby Dawson. All four seniors are organizing the Art Show as their senior project; they have been planning and creating art for the show throughout the school year with the help of Art Club members.
The show will be held in the auditorium entrance, free of charge.
AP Art students will be showcasing their completed concentration pieces in the show. Their concentrations are composed of five original artworks that capture a cohesive story of their choice. All art classes, Art 1-3 and Studio Art, will have their work displayed in the show as well.
Art Club has met almost every Monday after school this year. In Art Club, students have created posters, signs, drawn on vinyl records, and created art in preparation for the show.
Junior Art Club member Reese Lindemann shared that “The art show is going to be so cool because all the artists are amazing, and the AP Art student leaders are super cool and have done a great job!”
Not only will the art show be filled with amazing art made by Beaver Area students, but it will also have a variety of entertainment and interactive art activities. The activities include making your own screen printed shirts, dancing with John Travolta on the dance floor, paint throwing, and a funky “psychedelic” black-out-room exhibit.
Some students will be selling their art too, so be sure to support your local artists!
Art teacher Mrs. Karen Steffes will be retiring this year after 18 years of teaching a variety of Beaver Area art classes. “Disco” will be her last art show, so let’s make sure it’s a party.
“I’m really excited for the art show this year! We have so many great artists who are involved and who are also leading the show. It’s a bittersweet moment, but it’s also an art party!” Exclaimed Mrs. Steffes.
Hungry? Food Truck Mommalicious will be parked in the senior lot offering yummy meals and gourmet funnel cakes for all to enjoy during the show.
Follow the wise words of junior Art Club member Jack Sheets: “The Art Show is going to be so groovy so be sure to come!”
