After the disappointing Obama Academy game, October 3, the boys’ soccer team faced Montour High School, October 8. It was an away game that tragically ended in a loss of 3-0.
Two days later, they geared up to play Blackhawk High School. It was a home game that also concluded in a loss of 2-1, October 10.
But the loss wasn’t all bad according to senior Josh Arend, “One of my favorite memories came from the Blackhawk game. I got to score on the opposing keeper, Matt Adler.”
For the boys’ final game of the year, they were supposed to play at Riverside High School. But Riverside ended up cancelling the game because their team had too many injuries—and unlike the Bobcats, the Panthers had playoffs ahead of them.
So instead the boys played at home against Freedom Area High School October 16. The team had to play in the cold and the rain.
Despite the bad weather, the boys fought hard and came out victorious for their last game of the season, 3-1. Finally, another one in the ‘W’ column.
Not only did the team have a memorable win, it was memorable for another reason as well. It was seniors Josh Arend, Beckett Connelly, and Mitch May’s last soccer game playing as Bobcats.
“I’m sad that it is all over, but it was a great way to go out for our last game on the Tarq,” said senior Beckett Connelly.
Coach Scott Hazuda had some words pertaining this season, “Despite not having the best win-loss record, I still very much enjoyed this season due to the players we had.”
Here’s hoping that next season is just as enjoyable . . . albeit with a few more wins.
