November 13, the Beaver Area drumline attended the Beaver Area Bobcats hockey game against the Blackhawk Cougars.

Being invited to the hockey game was a new experience for the drumline.

The drums headed up to one of the Beaver County Ice Arena balconies and set up before the start of the game. The Ice Arena is home ice to both Blackhawk and Beaver Area teams.

Once the Bobcats took the ice, the drums started playing in support.

Throughout the the game, the drums played many different tunes, beats, and cadences.

Drumline Director Mr. Louis Didio stated, “We didn't keep the drums put away for long [at the end of marching season] as we were right back at it playing at the Beaver hockey game vs. Blackhawk. The atmosphere on youth night vs. our top rival was electric. It was a unique experience for our students getting to play in an atmosphere like that. We hope to be able to come back in the future.”

Although the game was well played (and well-supported by the drummers) the Bobcats lost to the Cougars 5-1.

Sophomore snare player Desmond Denny shared, “I don’t know much about hockey, but the game was fun; it was a pretty cool environment. The game seemed pretty packed, and I didn’t know hockey was even that popular. The Drumline played really well, and I feel like we added a lot to the overall atmosphere.”

The drums may be back at another game in the future as they were thanked many times by fans and coaches for coming to the game.
