The Beaver Area Lady Bobcats are gearing up for another playoff run this season. And things look good considering that the team lost only one senior, Qhamille Monteiro, after last season’s great performance.
The team is coached by returning coach Greg Huston.
So the team lost a senior but also regained senior Kristi Buckenheimer who returned after sitting out last season.
The ladies have been off to a great start this season so far.
They traveled to South Fayette for their season opening tip-off tournament December 6 against North Hills and came away with a 28-14 win.
The team had a quick turnaround and traveled back for another game at South Fayette December 7. They took on the tournament hosts and quickly took them down with a 50-38 win.
“Our first game we had a hard time trying to find our shot, but we were able to grind through it and pull out a win. Then our second game we faced a good opponent, but we played really good defense against them and got our offense going,” said Buckenheimer.
The Bobcats then had their home opener December 9 against Vincentian Academy. The lady Bobcats continued their winning streak with a 46-29 domination over the Vincentian Academy Royals.
“It was a great start to the season and I’m proud of the team and the effort they gave. It was a great home opener to start the season,” said junior Emma Pavelek.
The lady Bobcats play tonight, December 16, against Ellwood City away at 7:30 p.m.
