With summer break just around the corner let’s see what some people are up to!
First of all, after this long year of uncertainties, some students will most definitely be going on vacation. Where? That is to be determined.
Freshman Maddie Williams is going to Myrtle Beach in July.
The beach waves are certainly a way to put this past year behind us.
“I am excited to go to Myrtle Beach,” said Williams, “but I am more excited to end this school year right.”
Williams is excited to end this year with fun, friends, and family. Why not spend it on the beach and in the water? Sounds like a plan to me!
While many will be going to the beach this summer, senior Emily Anderson is excited to visit Lake Erie.
“My parents always rent a place up there,” explained Anderson, “so we go all the time! With all the uncertainty this year, it will be good to get away for a little bit.”
Erie is definitely on the prettier side. With Presque Isle State Park and an amusement park only ten minutes away, it definitely screams “FUN” for anyone planning to travel this year.
(Suggestion: why not try out a tandem bike while you are there? Make your partner do the work while you take in the scenery around you.)
Seniors Kyriaki and Maria Maris are taking their annual trip to Greece this summer where they visit family and friends.
Thankfully, COVID hasn’t affected their travel plans this year.
“Since Greece is so small, they weren’t affected by the virus like we were,” the twins report.
This year’s seniors naturally are excited to get this school year over with and slide into summer, but that’s not saying that they will miss their high school experiences.
“College will be different,” said senior Mina Barać, “but I can’t wait to move up to Harvard and start my new journey!”
Many seniors will be doing just as Barać will be doing this summer: getting ready for college or other future adventures. Some, like Barać, will be moving away. For others, their college is closer to home.
In these recent few weeks of easing restrictions, it seems as if this summer will be somewhat normal. All the students are relieved and excited to finally have a normal season after the last several months of changes, cancelled plans, and disappointments.
Summer is here. For the seniors, this will be their last high school experiences. For the rest of the students, enjoy your summer and look forward to next school year!
Hopefully, there will be more certain times in store for next school year. There is much to do! Enjoy it while you can. (Oh, and don’t forget to complete your AP summer work. Sorry.)
