Ibrahim Diallo, who goes by IB, is from Senegal on Africa’s west coast. He recently moved to Beaver with his sister who attends nearby Penn State Beaver.
IB enjoys playing soccer and being part of our Bobcat team.
“I like being part of the soccer team because it helps me meet new people,” IB said.
His favorite class at Beaver Area is Advanced Strength Training.
“I like advanced strength training because it’s an easy start to my day,” IB confessed.
Along with playing soccer IB also is hoping to join basketball team this winter.
As you might expect, IB reports that school in Senegal differs from ours. The biggest difference in Beaver Area High School and his old school, Senegalese American Bilingual School, is the classes. In Senegal he stayed in one classroom with the same teacher all day instead of moving all over the school as we do. Also, the size of his school was about half the size of Beaver Area High School.
Ibrahim is excited to be living in Beaver and going to school here. Sure he misses his friends from his old school, but he enjoys being part of a new school.
“Being here is very different from Senegal; it is a weird adjustment that I am just starting to get use to,” IB said.
