When people think of the music department, they might think of marching band and orchestra concerts, but Beaver Area musicians have other outlets for their talent including a strings chamber group (Forte) and a jazz band.
May 21, the Beaver Area Music Department held a concert for the Beaver Forte and the Jazz Band.
The concert was held in the Auditorium at 7 p.m.
The Beaver Forte performed first, playing String Quartet No 6 in F minor, Op. 80, II. Allegro assai by Felix Mendelssohn and Danzas de Panama III. Punto by William Grant Still.
The Jazz Band performed Avenue ‘R’ by Rob Vuono, Jr., Caribbean Dance by Victor López, and In the Doghouse by Erik Morales.
Band Director Mr. J.P Scanga shared, “I am extremely proud of all of our music department students who participated in this concert. Both the orchestra and band performers devoted many hours of extra practice in order to present this concert for our families. Well done, everyone!”
Both groups spent lots of time in and out of school trying to perfect their musical selections.
Great job to both groups of musicians!
