Are you a high school student who yearns to let your creative, artistic side shine? Then you want to join the Art Club.
Interested students attended one of the informational meetings offered by the Beaver Area High School Art Club either October 3 at 2:30 p.m. or October 5 at 7:15 a.m. in Room C-8.
“The sign-up sheet is accessible on the Beaver High School Art Show Instagram, as well as any meeting time and place updates throughout the year,” explained senior Zane Atkins, an AP Studio Art student who posts for the club.
Art instructors and club sponsors, Mrs. Karen Steffes and Ms. Rachael Zahn, along with the AP Studio Art students, will provide supplies, where no fees are necessary upon joining. Students who wish to work independently on their own pieces may bring the artwork and supplies to club meetings.
All students are welcome, regardless of their artistic abilities.
Meetings throughout the year will last approximately 30 minutes. If unable to attend, simply notify an Art Club sponsor.
During the first meeting, instructors discussed future projects, provide an art room introduction, and determined each student’s contribution to the club.
Throughout the year, Art Club hopes to focus on personal projects as well as beautifying the school.
Various meetings will highlight artist demonstrations. Rachael Lamb, a senior who assists Art Club, will present her jewelry-making talent in creating earrings, while Mrs. Steffes and Ms. Zahn will teach printmaking, wood burning, and t-shirt design.
The club also will play an essential role in preparing art show decorations so that the annual event flourishes May 12.
“Setting up the art show with everyone was truly a great memory,” senior Georgia Engle, an AP Studio Art student, happily recalled about last year’s event.
If time permits, Art Club will create the school musical’s backdrops.
“One of my favorite pieces made in Art Club was the Seussical musical sets [during the 2017-2018 school year]. Not only did we enjoy making the artwork, but it was also nice to help another school organization,” Mrs. Steffes stated with a smile.
“If you are willing to challenge yourself and learn something new, join us! Art Club is a wonderful way to socialize in a relaxed atmosphere,” Mrs. Steffes exclaimed.
Anyone who hopes to experiment with various media is welcome to join Art Club, which Mrs. Steffes has sponsored at Beaver Area High School for 15 years, continuing to leave an impact every time artwork is produced.
